It’s probable that I’m the last person on earth to try Sonic’s Cherry Limeade Slush. One hot day after hiking midday, we grabbed some grub at Sonic and I couldn’t resist getting the much talked about cherry limeade slush. It was the perfect refreshment for a hot afternoon. I found myself craving the cherry limeade slush every hot afternoon. If I were a normal person, this would probably be the start of an addiction where I started making weekly trips, then biweekly trips, and suddenly I’m at Sonic every day. But, since I’m me, I began obsessively researching and experimenting to make my own.
The good news is making your own slush is pretty easy if you have a decent blender and it’s also pretty healthy. If your fruit is ripe and your sweet tooth is moderate, you can even make it without any added sugar. I think we can all agree that this summer has not been normal. If you’re like me, that might wear on you sometimes, but when I have one of these in my hands I feel much more chill (literally and figuratively) as well as optimistic about the state of the world. So mix one up, sit back, and enjoy summer.
